After 25 years of teaching, we’ve learned the number one reason people don’t sign up for art classes isn’t time or talent. It’s fear of being judged. Fear that everyone else will be better. Fear that the instructor will wince at your drawing. Fear of being the only beginner in the room. We built our studio to make that fear disappear.
A Judgment-Free Studio
No grades, no comparisons. The only question we ask is: where are you now, and what’s your next step?
Encouraging feedback, always. You won’t hear “bad” or “wrong” here. Our instructors talk about what’s working and what’s not working yet. That “yet” matters.
Everyone started as a beginner. Many of our advanced students walked in just as nervous as you. They’re the first to welcome newcomers.
No one is watching you. Once class begins, everyone is absorbed in their own easel.
What Happens in Your Trial Class
Your trial is a real two-hour class in our Agoura Hills studio, with an instructor guiding you personally.
We start with what you want to make, whether that’s a portrait, a landscape, or your dog. At RSA, the ambition leads, and the foundation follows. Your instructor will show you the first steps and the building blocks behind them.
You’ll leave with a piece you started yourself and, most people tell us, relief that it was nothing like they feared.
